OLD BOYS ASSOCIATION OF ST.PATRICK'S COLLEGE JAFFNA

In 1904 old Patricians of that time came together and institutionalized the community of old Patricians under the name and style of “Old Boys Association of St.Patrick’s College Jaffna”, in order to foster the unique relationship among them. Thus St Patrick’s College OBA was formed on the 29th of April 1904 with the following office bearers.

During the tenure of His Lordship Rt.Rev.Dr.B.Deogupillai, the OBA was allocated the premises no.59, St.Patrick’s Road, Jaffna, in recognition of the good intentions and hard work carried out by the members of the association. In doing so his request to the OBA was to promote more activities for the benefit of the old boys, especially the youth.

Culminating from this was the birth of the Patrician Institute to provide training to the youth in various job oriented skills. The vocational training courses included computer courses, Lathe and machine fabrication, welding, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, motor mechanism, carpentry and typing. Several hundreds of youth have undergone training at this institute and found employment locally and abroad.

Despite the unfavourable conditions prevailing in Jaffna today the OBA is struggling through and continuing to march forward with the support of the old boys.
